m. Irene Ripley, April 20, 1719, Windham Conn.
(b. Aug. 24, 1700 (place unknown); d. Jan 20, 1727, Windham Conn.)
This Samuel Manning, the third to bear this name in our history, was born at Billerica on January 14, 1691. His father moved the family to Cambridge when Samuel was only four years old. He was raised at Cambridge, moving again with the family to Windham, Connecticut, when he was about 19 or 20 years old.
On April 20, 1719 (at age 28), he married Irene Ripley (age 18) at Windham. Irene was the great-granddaughter of William Bradford, the Governor of the original Plymouth Colony, and leader of the Mayflower Pilgrims.
William Bradford's son, William Bradford Jr., was deputy Governor of Plymouth as well. William Jr.'s daughter, Hannah, married Joshua Ripley, and their daughter Irene married Samuel Manning.
Samuel and Irene had six children. The last, David, was born January 14, 1727, at Windham.
Irene died six days after the birth of her last child. She was only 26 years old. Samuel died later that same year, on June 3. He was 36. The causes of their early deaths are not recorded.
